Ombré

One of the things I always liked about my dad is that when it came to my hair his philosophy was do what you want because it will grow back.  That means for me, and my hair, we have been many places.  From short and spikey(almost buzzed) to long and blonde.  And, well, everything in-between(both in length and colors).  I have held that same philosophy when it comes to my kids hair.  And Samantha has finally had to remind of it.  She wanted her hair a certain way.  A way, that to me, looks like some one with crazy grow out, but she wanted it.  And really, it is only hair.  And it will grow out.  And she really does love it.  So I am proud to introduce Samantha, with ombré hair.
Sam had to pay for her new hair.  She looked into a salon.  $110.00!!  Then we went to the store bought a box and had grandma help.
$14.00 dollars and beautiful!

A seak peek at the beach.

I don't have time in this day to edit and post all my super fun beach pictures, so I thought I would just post a sneak peek.  The Doyles enjoy Double Bluff.

Best friends

When we were at the top of Mt. Baker Isaiah came up to me to let me know he had a best friend.  This was what was said.
Isaiah: Mama, her is my best friend.
Me: Who Isaiah?
Isaiah: Abbie, mama.
Yep, he has a best friend.  And yep, she is a girl.  And they are about the cutest pair that I have ever seen!
We have decided that one day we may have to implement a six inch rule, but for now I will enjoy them in all their incredible cuteness!

The top of the mountain: take two!

I had so much fun on my last trip up the mountain I decided to do it again.  This time though I brought all the kids(minus Sam who doesn't like the drive), my camera, and good friends.
When we first arrived the kids started scaling up the side of a small hill.  They were all excited and yelling they were mountain climbers.  They were sad to find signs that said stay on trails.
After a quick lunch we headed to the trails.  I  had the kids do a buddy system so I wouldn't be so nervous about a boy with poor self control tumbling off the edge.
It was our first try at it and it worked pretty well.  We again hit up the snow.  This time though, it was all about snow balls, sliding down, and eating.  Oh, and freezing mom with your very cold hands!
When I went up last time the trail was crazy full of bees!  All to busy to bug us, but enough that this time I was worried about panic breaking out in the crowd.  You know what?  There were like no bees!  There were however butterflies!
The trail we took went on for a very long time, but we decided to settle down next to the lake and enjoy some quiet.  And yes most the kids kicked off their shoes
and waded in the snow fed lake!
I tried hard for a pretty picture of the kids.
But going goofy worked much better!
Nature was amazing and I think I held us up trying to get the perfect picture.

After rest time we headed back up to the van.  Yep, you head down the mountain to start and up to end.
There were some tired moments up.
Nothing like a brother to encourage you to keep going!
And in the end everyone made it to the top!
Tomorrow we are planning a beach outing, so stay tuned of the next Doyle adventure!

Hunter Who?

That was my first thought when a very excited Sam came to me to let me know Hunter Hayes would be at the fair.  Soon her excitement caused grandma to purchase tickets.  Two tickets.  And grandma didn't want to go.  So I stepped up.  Sam downloaded his music onto my iPod so I would have some idea what I was in for.  Let me tell you, this young man is so full of talent that his recorded stuff does him no justice!!  I did some research and found out he has been performing since he was four!  A little boy, an accordion, and a whole lot of talent.  Now he is the 21 year old that girls scream for.
And wear shirts like this.
Which made me wonder what I was in for.  Turns out I was in for a great show and a lot of screaming(mainly from myself).
It was Sam's first concert and she was so thrilled to be there.
So much so she even posed for photos with mom!
Again I had no real camera.  Just an iPod, which made it seem like we were farther away than we were.  And turns out. I could have brought my camera!!!
I really wanted to put the cover he did that I loved, but right now I can't figure that one out.  Hopefully soon I can add it!

The top of the mountain!

So, I feel kinda funny admitting this, but I have lived here my entire life and only traveled to Mt. Baker once!!  Well, I did drive up once in the winter to drop someone off for work, but I did it with my eyes covered and never left my car.  You see, when I was in my teens I tried a visit to the mountain.  I ended up in the passenger seat crying like a crazy lady until we hit the top.  I had a little height issue and the no guard rail, drop off to the side got to me.  Turns out though, I have out grown the fear.  And now at 32 decided to tackle the mountain.  Okay, really Sam had a dance retreat she had to go to at the top of the mountain and I was the ride.  I not only brought Sam, but several other dancers and the two little girls.  The ride up was fine.  No crying like a crazy lady and really it was way faster then I thought it would be.  After we dropped off Sam the little girls and I headed up a little farther.  Not all the way to the top, but close.  Then we got out and hiked about for a bit.  My girls were troopers!  We weren't prepared for getting out and hiking.  We had no water, it was already normal dinner time, and it was HOT!  Here are some photos that capture a little of what we enjoyed.

All these photos were taken using my iPod.  Yep, I was at the top of the mountain with out my camera!!  No worries though, I am planning an all day outing with all the kiddos.  The boys keep asking when they get to go hiking.
Stayed tuned for what we did on the way down the mountain!
