Nope, not the beautiful change of the leaves. Nope, not the change from summer decor to fall decor. Nope, not even the lightening of summer tan to winter white. This fall color has to do with my hair. Blonde was fun and well, summery. Is that even a word? Now it is. Anyways, the summer sun is gone and so is my summer hair. I really like the new color and even though I will miss summer days I can now fully embrace fall. Because apparently that can't happen for me until my hair is fall hair. So, here I am embracing fall!

Our first field trip!
Our first field trip actually happened before we started school, but when you are someone who likes a free day you do what you gotta do! Our first trip was to the Museum of Flight. Prior to going we did a two week study about flight. The second week I went to the museums web sight found their education section and printed off work books for the kids. This was very cool because it got them excited to see different things when we arrived.
We had learned all about pitch, yaw, and roll at home. The girls loved putting it in to practice and Melia lead all the kids around yelling pitch up, pitch down, yaw right.
Kellina most enjoyed the Blue Angels simulator ride(sorry no photos). Which is funny because she didn't even want to get on it and looked bored once in it. But turns out she loved it! I loved seeing all the planes. I mean really how often do you see planes hanging from the ceiling?
They also have a very fun kids area. The kids got to sit in small planes and make different parts move(like the rudder and elevator). They got to pretend to hang glide(yes, I did it too) and be in a hot air balloon. And ride in a helicopter.
And then there were the cool teenagers who had different activities set up in the big main area. They were all meant to show something about outer space. In this one Kellina is giving directions to her friend, who has closed eyes, to try and land the shuttle in the cup.
In this one you had to wear big plastic gloves and try and save Buzz.
By far though the area that all the kids LOVED the best was this area.
It was set up like a flight tower. You got to hear over the speakers live feed from the real tower. You could pick up various phones and hear recordings of people. And you could watch planes take off and land!! While we were there, there happened to be a thunder and lightening storm going on. Which made for a beautiful show on the long ride home.
I really enjoyed this trip and since free day is once a month I plan to go back. We didn't even go into one section of the museum!

Sometimes we all need a redo.
At least I needed one this week. I had done a photo shoot Monday for a 3 month old. I thought, sure I got this. It didn't take long during the shoot for me to realize I did not have it at all!! I have had a shoot that didn't feel right, but they have always turned around. This one, did not. So I scheduled a redo. I went online and researched 3 month old photo shoots. I got inspired. Then I went and captured some very cute photos. I am so glad that in photography(and life) we get redos!
Oh, I also got a couple cute big sister pictures too.

Capturing a season
No, not a time of year, but a time of life. Some of the best photos capture these.
And little does this fellow know, but he too is entering into a new season. Soon to be big brother and not only child.
Sam babysits for this family and she said this photo was this little guys go to look. He is a serious one.
Even in the new born pictures I took of him he was serious!
Thank you Kristie for letting my help capture this season! And practicing my photo skills on your little guy(sometimes it's hard to look back at my first attempts).

First Day!!
Today was our official first day of school!! I would love to tell you it was smooth and perfect. That I never raised my voice in frustration. And that my kiddos where so thrilled they can't wait to do it again, but alas I can't. It had its good moments. It had its ups. But it also had it downs. Just another reminder that a plan is great, but it doesn't always flow smoothly. But at least I have the cutest students around!
Melia is in third grade this year and said she is most looking forward to spelling and writing.
Kellina is in second grade and most looking forward to math and science(my personal favorite).
And no, I didn't forget Sam!! It is her first day tomorrow and yes I will do photos!

Final day of summer
This year I had big plans for Labor Day to be our final day of summer. Since it was going to be our last day I thought a fun outing was needed. I got a hold of my mom and plans were made. We all headed out to Birch Bay for water play and kayaking! Well, everyone but Jeff. He had to work. It kinda windy when we arrived, but quickly turned nice.
The tide was pretty far out and watching Grandpa hike the kayak out was kinda funny.
He told us we all looked like giants while he kayaked.
When he hiked my daughter back for a clothing change it was nothing but sweet.
The boys really enjoyed playing in the water. It was shallow and warm. And I did bring swim gear, but never changed them, oops!
They also enjoyed their version of kayaking.
Josh was so sweet pushing Isaiah all over the place!
Melia and Kellina loved the kayak too, but I don't have any photos! Samantha and her friend were the big swimmers. See the two blurs that is them.
I thought I got photos with all my kids, but while I was editing I realized I missed Caleb!
I did get a group shot though.
We ended our day spending time with the cute new member of our family. No, she is not mine! She is my niece.
All in all our final day of summer was super fun and turned out to not really be the final as I still haven't got my act all the way together. Next week, for sure. We did do our first field trip though, so stay tuned.

Hello Mary-Joy
Mary-Joy is my friends newest sweet daughter. I had the great pleasure of doing some photos. At first I didn't think I would get this little princess to sleep.
But finally, after a lot of work and finding out she hates her arms out, she did fall asleep. And I got some mighty fine pictures!
Have I mentioned how much I love baby feet....
Or how much I love doing photos. I really do love it now and look forward to every time I get the chance to do it!
