Sun Day

We have all heard of a snow day, but yesterday at the Doyle house it was a sun day. This family has been stuck in doors for what seems like months. Sickness has been keeping us home bound. Yesterday was really no different since Kellina was in bed with a fever of 103.3, except for one thing. The sun!! It was bright and called us out. It was a perfect day for sitting in holes. Jumping off giant hills(they may only be giant in his mind, but that's okay). Swinging. Training a puppy. And my personal favorite, practicing photos. It's always great when Jeff looks at a picture I took and tells me it's like a Bergeron picture. Renee I bet you never guessed your name would be used as a compliment, but around here it's the biggest one you can get related to photos! Click here to check out why.

Eagle watching?

One thing that I love about this time of year is the bald eagles are out in mass numbers. My mom lives by the Nooksack river, so I decided to take the kids out for some bird watching. It didn't long to spot several birds. It also didn't take long for the girls to get bored. That is when learning how to skip rocks and building rock bridges took over. In the end everyone had fun and I got pictures of my girls standing on water. And even though I was worried no eagles attempted to eat Samantha's dog!

Heart Warming

I have decided with all the cold weather outside we all could use some warmth on the inside. Imagine yourself out side on a very sunny yet cold day. You are forcing your children to play by having them jump on grandma's trampoline. Everyone is having fun jumping except Joshua. He has decided the only place he is happy is in mama's arms. As you hold him you get to hear all sorts of things. Like how he can smell a fire and that reminds him of visiting his cousin "Liela". Then in the middle of talking he pauses takes hold of your face and says,"Your eyes are beautiful mama." Then he plants a big kiss on your lips. Your heart is now warm and you can endure the cold for just a few minutes longer. I have had a lot of these moments lately which is just what this frozen Northwest girl needs. I have never been much of a winter girl. P.S. With a new little puppy in the house the number one thing I have been telling the kiddos when outside is DON"T EAT THE YELLOW SNOW!!

The quest

Once upon time not so long ago, a mother learned that she really loved to knit. Remember her hat. And since she had tons of extra time in her days of raising six children and doing daily duties it seemed such a natural thing to do. After making her hundredth hat she decided it was time to branch out. So the quest was started. She looked high and low. She searched and searched. Then she was inspired by a friend. It was there she found what her heart longed to create. It would be something that was practical and would be worn often. Also it would be something her husband wouldn't think was to girly for a boy. It was soon cast on her needles and progress was made. Illness brought it to a screeching halt, but soon knitting was going again. Even though her husband and daughter both thought it too small she kept going. The day she finished was a major day to celebrate. Although still too sick to really enjoy the victory the photographer in her couldn't resist taking pictures to capture the moment. Now with a major confidence boost the knitter has started to work on a hooded sweater and the photographer can't wait to take pictures of the sweet baby who will wear it!

Three!!

It has happened the boys have left being toddlers and moved into being preschoolers!! I thought to celebrate I would list some of the things that I love most right now.
Caleb........ This hat is on your head at all times! It is your woody hat and you even sleep with it. When you play with your sisters you some how always end up being the puppy. You don't seem to mind. You get very into your roll and even lick people. You are very curious. Some may say naughty. If I can't hear you and can't see you I know you are into something. Usually it is a marker that you have used to color your entire body. Recently you managed to swallow a penny in a curios moment. You have started talking a lot more lately. We have to watch out though when you say truck. You call your tummy your bummy. That means I often hear "Mom, my bummy hurts." You still walk on your tip toes. You like to suck on your shirts around the collar, but hate when they get wet. You are sweet and sensitive. You call your sisters "my princess" when looking for them. We often call you the drama king because of how you react to things. I can't wait to see how you grow this next year.
Joshua...... You are my very verbal boy. You like to talk. When ever you pray, you always pray that dad will come home. I don't know why you think he won't, but it sweet you care. You started the calling your sister princess. I love it!! When some one asks you your name you say Joshewha. I love to hear it so much I ask you your name a lot! You are in a phase right now of wearing these dino jammies all the time. You put them on with Melia's boots, my belt, and your army hat. Then you call yourself Puss in Boots and march around with your hands on your hips. Every time we eat dinner you ask if dad shot our food. You even ask if he shot our pickles. You want to be a big boy so you can have a gun and shoot a deer. Currently you are learning to stop pretending to shot people with your guns. You love to use dads holster for your pop gun, especially when it is attached to my belt. You love to listen to books and cuddle on laps. You are quick to tears if you think it will help you to get what you want. You can be stubborn and try to argue your point. I think this year is going to be a ton of fun.

Best and Worst Wednesday

The best part of yesterday? It was Caleb and Joshua's third birthday!!!
The worst part? I was so sick that doing just normal things was near impossible, so birthday things were out of the question. The best part of being sick? Samantha has really risen to occasion and been a major help for the family(Friday would have been a much different day if Samantha weren't here).
The worst part? I don't think I have been this sick in my life!! At least not due to a virus. The best part of Samantha rising to the occasion? Seeing glimpses of the women she may grow into one day.
The worst part? Being reminded that she is no longer my little baby girl and realizing that soon she will be that woman I have seen glimpses of.P.S. I plan to do an entire post all about the boys tomorrow, so stay tuned!

Best and Worst Wednesday

The best part of potty training the twins? I will soon be down to only one in diapers.
The worst part? Even with all the prep mentally, I never could have guessed how far boys pee will travel when not properly aimed! The best part of Samantha's new puppy? It is small, sweet, and every one loves him.
The worst part? Now we are trying to potty train a puppy also. The best part of school starting up again? Kellina told me she wants to do school every day and not miss it for anything.
The worst part? After one day Kellina already asked for a PJ and movie day.(good thing we home shcool and PJ day is just fine. Not so much on the movie part)
For more best and worst visit here. Sorry Renee I don't know how to grab something.
