Exploring the Pacific Northwest one trail at a time!

So I realized that I had pretty photos from a hike I did with my kiddos, but I didn't seem to blog them!  What the heck!?
These are from a while back, but I really do love Whatcom Falls Park as a place to hike around.
As a teen I enjoyed jumping from the falls and swimming there too. This hike was prior to a 5k I was going to run there.  My mom wanted to check out the trail.  So we did.  Kids and all.
And the fun part was after the kids played at the playground.  This route started at Lake Whatcom.
I've taken a break from my trails, but I think it's time to get back out there!

The hundred acre wood

I got to visit the hundred acre wood this weekend!  Okay, not the real one.  But as Sam and I walked through the woods we were at she said," Mom, they have their very own hundred acre wood!"  Since then every time I mention the 100 acre she has to correct me and say it was 110.  Silly girl.  Where is this magical 100 acre wood?  Well, my girls were invited to a friends birthday.
The friend lives on a beautiful 110 acre farm in concrete.  It was love starting with the drive.  It felt like we had somehow been put down into Narnia.  I'm a sucker for a good drive.  Then we arrived.  It wasn't what I expected.  110 acre farm in my mind meant wide open space, vast fields,  and live stock.  Instead it was a wonderful place were people made you feel welcome, cuteness was everywhere,
and kids got to swim in a creek(that I kept calling a river).
The girls and I can't wait to go back and have more wonderful adventures in the hundred acre wood!

T-ball

We have been rotating the kids through different sports.  Each one getting their turn to try something out and see what they think.  The twins and Kelly have both tried basketball.  This time little Isaiah is trying T-ball.  Oh. My. Gosh!  It is the cutest thing ever!!  The down side is it is outside.  Rain or shine.  Oh well, we will survive.

Hello Elijah!

I recently got the privilege of meeting and taking photos of baby Elijah.  I was reminded what a hard job we as mothers have.  The sleepless nights, the worry of the unknown, the firsts, and the pressure we put on ourselves.  I was also reminded of the joy a new little one brings.  All the love we feel for them.
Yep, every time I go and take pictures for someone I always feel something different.  Anyways, enough of my rambles.  Here he is.  Sweet baby Elijah.

Road Trippin!

For the first time ever this mama and her kiddos hit the road on their own!  This has never been done before, but we survived!  Not only did we survive I discovered a wonderful thing!  I discovered my kiddos are finally at an age where road trips are fun!!  We have had many, many, many not fun road trips.  From infants who needed feeding every two hours and wouldn't take a bottle. To crazy massive road construction.  To screaming kids in car seats.  No, not all kids enjoy a car ride.  Besides a fun road trip our destination was also a big hit.  We ended our road trip at Jeff's sister's house in Colville, Washington.  And while in Colville I learned my kids really enjoy being outside.  I mean I know they like being outside, but man they woke up went outside and stayed outside!  Of course who wouldn't love a ride on some big equipment!
Or watching their uncle shoot off a rocket.
Practicing like mad to come up with cool tricks in mid air.
And climbing around on dirt mountains?!
They also really enjoyed their Easter egg hunt.  Isaiah actually found a real duck egg!  He left it where is lay.  It's the white one under the tree.
I think Chester wanted an egg or two.
And lastly they loved each other.  I love that I captured this sweet moment.

So, all in all we had a great road trip with the bonus of a great get away spot.

Exploring the Pacific Northwest one trail at a time!

I'm back with another trail to share!  This one is a little south of Bellingham so you do have to drive for a minute.  Okay, longer than a minute, but not that long.  The trail is the Squires Lake.  And for those who are interested there is also a beaver dam you can check out with a small detour.
This trail is 2 miles total.  And it was perfect for all of our busy kiddos! Yeah, we may have had a few.
The first part of the trail is the up hill switch backs.  No worries about getting lost.  We had this cutie to point the way.
The trail was well maintained and in spots beautiful.
There are benches you can stop at and enjoy the view.
Unless of course the view you enjoy best is right in front of you on the trail.
I highly recommend this trail for a fun family outing.  Go, enjoy!

Kite Flying with little boys

So my son got a kite for his fourth birthday.  Since then I have heard all about wanting to fly the kite.  One day it finally seemed we would be able to fly the kite.  People were excited.  People were thrilled.  People were holding their breathe.  Okay, maybe not really, but Isaiah was happy to finally get his kite in the air.
And then 1 minute later he was done.  Yep, done.
At least I got some cute photos.
And his brothers each took turns.  And yes, their turns lasted about a minute before they were ready to move on.
Busy boys.  Just busy!
