New hair, again...

Yes, I just couldn't stand my new hair!!  I was trying to go long, but I HATE long hair on me.  So last night I went in and a cut that I love!  And the other day while I put highlights in a friends hair I decided to add a couple more to my own.  I now have new hair that really makes my day.
And since we are talking new hair, now is a good time to mention Samantha got her own new hair.  For her birthday this year grandma took her in for some of her own highlights.  Now she is super grown up looking.  She had to endure two sessions because the first set of highlights weren't dramatic enough.  Four hours in the beauty salon and now....
She currently hates her bangs so that is the reason for the headband.
And just in case you don't remember her hair before.

My little mountain goat

Caleb has always been my most independent child.  He has also always been the climber.  I now think he might be part mountain goat!!  Saturday we had the joy of joining friends on a last minute trip to Larrabee.  While we were there Caleb showed off his skill.  See this group, Caleb is the one already on the rocks.
My other kiddos went just far enough for mom to snap a picture.
Then they all went back to the beach to play.
Who can blame them, it was beautiful!!
Not Caleb.
He continued on and when I asked him to come back he said, "No mom.  I want to get a closer look at..... that woman."  Four years old and already wanting a closer look!  Once he got over the big rocks and this lay ahead I thought for sure he would turn back.
But no, off he went.
He was so quick and fearless.  I was very impressed and also a little nervous about what our future holds.  Oh, and big thanks to the Thames for keeping an eye on my other kids while I chased Caleb down.

Cars, jets, robots and all things boys

I often get asked if boys and girls are different.  Usually from people who wouldn't know because they lack the experience.  If you have read my blog long you know how I feel about boys.  They are YUCKY!!  I love my boys, but I am sticking to my guns on this one.  Even my boy who doesn't like to be dirty is yucky compared to my girls.  But I thought today I would focus on how they play different.  I think my boys came into the world knowing what a car is and what it does.  Isaiah can almost always be found with one in his hand and car noises coming out of his mouth.
They also really love to build.  Lego's didn't really hold much meaning in this house til the boys were old enough to like them.  The girls play with them now, but never did til they saw the boys loving it.  This day the boys built robots.
I didn't realize it until just the other day, but my boys LOVE jets.  I should have guessed it though since they have been spotting them in the sky since forever.  Now goggle image jets and they are enthralled!
Army men and action figures have also made their grand entrance into our house.  My boys are completely happy when these toys are around.
And if army men aren't around, knights will do just fine.

Destruction is also high up there in play time.  See this jet had to take out the robot.
They also hold a bigger interest in figuring out how things work.  Joshua was in heaven when grandma took out her old radio.  He sat there messing with it for a LONG time.
While I may think my boys are yucky.  I also think they are amazing when I really sit and watch them play.  Oh, boys also(at least in my family) have an athletic edge.  Throwing a ball is natural.  Hitting it with a bat, no problem.  The other day Isaiah pitch whiled Joshua hit.  My girls all had to work and learn these skills, even miss athletic.

Energy Burning Device

A.K.A the trampoline.  Did you know that little boys have energy.  I mean they HAVE A LOT of energy.  I know there are some girls out there with this same problem..... I mean unique God given quality.  But none of my girls are that way, so I didn't learn about this kind of energy until the boys.  It is easiest for me to notice this energy on days when I am not feeling 100%.  Which has been me for the last 2 weeks!!! Just to be clear I have a nasty cold bug that is effecting my ears.  Stop thinking morning sickness!!  BUT I do have a secret weapon.  The most wonderful addition to our house.  The one thing that all my kids love.
And that I adore because it does something I could never do.  It burns all that built up ENERGY!!

This is not the only thing I use.  I have also been known to have the kiddos walk/run on the treadmill, but that requires much more of me involvement.  I imagining the day when I live on land.  Where I can kick kids out in the back to play.  Until that day, I will use and abuse my Energy Burning Device.
