Exploring the Pacific Northwest one trail at a time!

I'm back with another trail to share!  This one is a little south of Bellingham so you do have to drive for a minute.  Okay, longer than a minute, but not that long.  The trail is the Squires Lake.  And for those who are interested there is also a beaver dam you can check out with a small detour.
This trail is 2 miles total.  And it was perfect for all of our busy kiddos! Yeah, we may have had a few.
The first part of the trail is the up hill switch backs.  No worries about getting lost.  We had this cutie to point the way.
The trail was well maintained and in spots beautiful.
There are benches you can stop at and enjoy the view.
Unless of course the view you enjoy best is right in front of you on the trail.
I highly recommend this trail for a fun family outing.  Go, enjoy!

Kite Flying with little boys

So my son got a kite for his fourth birthday.  Since then I have heard all about wanting to fly the kite.  One day it finally seemed we would be able to fly the kite.  People were excited.  People were thrilled.  People were holding their breathe.  Okay, maybe not really, but Isaiah was happy to finally get his kite in the air.
And then 1 minute later he was done.  Yep, done.
At least I got some cute photos.
And his brothers each took turns.  And yes, their turns lasted about a minute before they were ready to move on.
Busy boys.  Just busy!

Sixteen!!

It's crazy, but true.  I am now the mother of a sixteen-year-old!!  What the?  For her big special day we decided to invite a couple friends and head down to Seattle to do some site seeing.  It didn't go as well as hoped because I didn't realize Seattle is all sorts of torn up.  Making walking on the piers impossible, but that didn't stop us.  We did enjoy other wonderful things though.  Like the Fremont Troll.
The gum wall.
The farmers market.
I would like to tell we ate the yummy produce in the pictures, but instead we joined the masses and enjoyed fresh doughnuts.  So. Stinkin. Yummy!!!!
The Ferris Wheel and all the sites that come along with it.
And most important I let these three girls enjoy themselves and make the calls.  Okay, If they would have asked to get something pierced I would have said no, but for the most part they decided what we did.  Where we went.  And what order to do it in.  It was a ton of fun for this mama to watch these girls in the city.

Exploring the Pacific Northwest one trail at a time.

I am back with another installment of a trail I have really started to enjoy.  It's one that you can take slowly and enjoy the forest around you, with your camera of course.  Or you can strap four year old to your back and go as fast as you can to get in some cardio.  I have now done it both ways.  And when I was going for cardio it was just as fun as strolling with my camera. The day a I had my camera the light was so pretty.

The moss was beautiful.  Yes, I just said moss was beautiful.
And the company was too cute!
So what trail is this you ask.  Well, it's the Stimpson Family reserve.  There are two loops you can take to total 4 miles.  I still haven't done both.  One trail is 1.2 miles and goes around a lake.  I haven't done that one yet, but my mom says it's very pretty.  The main loop is 2.8 miles and is the trail I have done.  Stayed tuned for more fun hikes and what I thought of them in the near future!

Whole30 day 30!!!

Yes!!! I have finished!  I feel great! I'm exciting to continue on! I would love to give you a huge list of things fixed, but I don't have one of those stories.  I have however been keeping a running log in old posts you are welcome to.  I realized when I started this I never weighed myself so I don't even have a solid weight loss for you.  Now I know I was at least 160(probably more).  I am now 153.  Not bad.  I now measure 39chest , 35waist, 38 hips.  Not bad.  I have noticed most important feeling all around better.  I use to have awful,  knock me down for the day headaches.  Now if I do get a headache I drink water take a small amount of meds and am on my way!  To end this Whole30 I leave you with photos from day one and day 30.  Please let me know if you want to try this out for your health.  I will totally do it with you!

Exploring the Pacific Norhwest one trail at a time

Yep, I have decided that this year when I hike I will be taking you all with me.  Well not with me at the time, but with me through photos.  I love hiking and wanted to get more in last year.  That never really happened, but I have already gotten two in this year!!  Thank you mild winter! And both trails were new to me. Bonus!  Today my hike found me at rock trail.  I was inspired by a friend and  photos of his family hiking it on Facebook.  After doing it myself his daughters have become my heroes.  However I loved the hike and will do it again.  I mean when this is the view from the parking lot....
Then you hit the trail.  It is one that starts out going down.
Down hills.  And down stairs that are the switch backs.
Then you find the rocks.  My lens wasn't wide enough to capture them.
So instead I captured some other things on the trail.
And of course a couple of my cute hiking buddy.
One other beautiful thing I couldn't capture was the view of the mountains you get.  I just didn't have the right lens.  Then we turned around and headed back UP to the car.  Yep, all those stairs that were switch backs,  all the down hill....all up hill!  I was super surprised though with how quick we got back to the car.  And tomorrow we will see how sore I am.  That cute hiking buddy rides on this mama's back, so....
Stay tuned for more hikes from me and my hiking buddy!
